1. Install and Activate Plugin
- 🔌 Go to Plugins → Add New
- Search for:
“Lightbox for Gallery & Image Block” by Johannes Kinast - Install and Activate
2. Create a Gallery Using WordPress’ Built-in Gallery Block
- In the block editor (Gutenberg), insert a Gallery block
- Upload or select multiple images
3. Set Link to Media File
- With the Gallery block selected:
- In the right sidebar under “Link To”, choose “Media File”
- This ensures the plugin can detect and open the images in the lightbox
4. You’re Done!
- When viewing the page:
- Clicking an image opens it in a full-screen lightbox
- Visitors can click arrows to navigate
- On mobile, users can swipe between images
🟢 Why This Method Is Great
- ✔️ Uses WordPress’s native Gallery block
- ✔️ No custom code required
- ✔️ Plugin is lightweight and focused
- ✔️ Works beautifully on desktop and mobile
- ✔️ If uninstalled, your gallery still works (just no lightbox)
